This composite layer is deposited on top of a FHA layer to form a Mn-TCP-FHA/FHA biphasic coating
The powder incorporation not only impart the coatings with Mn releasing ability, but also greatly increases the surface roughness
However, due to the mismatch of coefficients of thermale expanion (CTE), some cracks could be observed in the coatings
Despite that, the bottom FHA layer effectively buffered such mismatch, the adhesion strength of the coatings with the substrate remains virtually constant: over 400 mN in scanning scratch test
