It depends not only on the frequency of the event, but also the size of event consequence

Pipeline risk can be described from different aspects, such as life risk, maximum individual risk, average personal risk of exposed population, average personal risk of total population and average mortality rate

The most common life risk indicators for oil and gas pipeline failure consequence evaluation include individual risk (IR) and social risk (SR)

This paper describes a simple method for long-distance gas pipeline life risk assessment

There are two important parameters, which are fatal length and cumulative fatal length

Thus a long-distance gas pipeline life risk assessment model is established

The quantitative calculation of pipeline risk is a prerequisite of risk acceptability assessment and risk decision-making

This paper will take individual risk and social risk as research object, which are indicators discribing the casualties in the vicinity of pipeline caused by gas pipeline failure, and explore life risk quantification

Thereby it is a basis for subsequent risk mitigation and risk decision-making researches
