the improvements of the traditional Smagorinsky model have become one of the ways to develop the subgrid-scale stress models
They include dynamic subgrid-scale eddy viscosity model, wall-adapting local eddy viscosity model, shear-improved Smagorinsky model, inertial-range consistent Smagorinsky model and subgrid-scale kinetic energy model
In the structural models, the scale similarity models and the deconvolution models are often used
The application of the two kinds of models in the turbulence research with the lattice Boltzmann method is introduced as well
According to the characteristics and the applicability of the models, the suggestions on the choice of them are given
The issues in the improvement and development of the models that should be taken into consideration are also shown
