) Abstract: In this study, the enantioselectivities of individual enantiomers of fipronil in acute toxicity and degradation in earthworm tissue and soil (the natural soil and the artificial soil) was studied

Acute toxicity test, after 72 h and 96 h of exposure, the calculated LC50 (72 h) values of the R-(-)-form, rac-form, and S-(+)-form were 0

0289 mg/cm2, 0

0445 mg/cm2, 0

0499 mg/cm2, resplctively, and the calculated LC50 (96 h) values of the R-(-)-form, rac-form, and S-(+)-form were 0

0149 mg/cm2, 0

The results show that the acute toxicity of fipronil enantiomers was enantioselective

During the bioaccumulation experiment, the enantiomer fraction in earthworm tissue in the natural soil was maintained approximately at 0

5, whereas enantiomer fraction in the artificial soil was higher than 0

In other words, the bioaccumulation of fipronil was enantioselective in earthworm in the artificial soil

During the elimination experiment, both in the natural soil and the artificial soil, the concentration of R-(-)-fipronil was higher than S-(+)-form
