） Abstract： In this paper, the principle of rainfall temporal and spatial variations were studied by using mean annual rainfall, maximum annual rainfall and minimum annual rainfall series from 1978 to 1982 at 606 gauges in Poyang Lake catchment
Results showed that: mean annual rainfall in 1982 was remarkable increase than that of 1978, mean annual rainfall series had no notable trend on west-east direction while parabolic trend existed on the same direction
By spatial interpolation, it was found that Kriging method had a higher precision than IDW method
