) Abstract: REG gamma (REGγ) is a new type of activator of proteasome
It can form a ring of homoheptamer as the caps of proteasome
REGγ can promote the degradation of p21, p19, p16 and p53 in a ubiqutin dependent/independent manner and involve in the regulation of cell cycle
Sumolyation and acetylation of REGγ are necessary for its degradation to its targets
REGγ can regulate aging through CK-1δ (casein kinase 1δ)-MDM2 (mouse double minute 2 homolog)-p53 signal pathway
REGγ exhibits dramatic autophagy induction and Sirt1 (sirtuin 1) degradation and thus protects against high-fat diet-induced disorder of lipid metabolism
REGγ acts as an oncogene in thyroid cancer, lung cancer, liver cancer and breast caner
Interestingly, it can degrade the oncogenic proteins such as SRC3 (steroid receptor coactivator-3) and PTTG1 (pituitary tumor-transforming gene 1), indicating its dual functions in cancer
All the researches showed that REGγ plays a critical role in the regulation of normal development and pathology process
