） Abstract： UHMW-PAN based porous hollow gel fiber shows a large swelling in an alkaline solution and contracting in an acid solution
The swelling change in length is above 90%, the response time of elongation/contract is less than 2 seconds
The maximum contraction force is 20N/cm2; its elongation/contraction behavior can be divided into three regions, no hysteresis is found while pH ranges from 0 to 2 and 12 to 14, and large hysteresis appear while pH ranges from 2 to 12;this pH-sensitivity is reversible
