） Abstract： On 12th May, 2008, a deadly earthquake measured at 8
0 Ms occurred in Wenchuan County of southwest China’s Sichuan province
It destroyed the buildings, infrastructures and all kinds of structures along the rupture continuing for more than 300 km and the surrounding areas
In Qingxi Town, which is about 40 km away from the eruptible point--Donghekou Village of Sichuan’ Qingchuan County, all kinds of structures were devastated to some extent
The destruction range and strength of the rural buildings are unprecedented
This paper researches on the seismic capability of various rural buildings and the problems concerned with aseismatic fortification on the basis of surveying the types of rural building structures before Sichuan earthquake and analyzing the characteristics of seismic damage to diversified rural buildings
It proposes the related solutions to rebuilding the rural buildings in a scientific way and to avoid the potential problems on aseismatic fortification in the process
Therefore, it could be regarded as reference and instruction to reconstruction of rural buildings
